Electricity is a wonderful resource. It powers our homes, helps us learn, and fuels the economy. But the power of electricity must also be respected. Whether you're at home or work, it's important to think safety first when it comes to electricity.

Never touch a power line.

If you see a downed or sagging power line, assume it is live.

Report downed wires to DP&L by calling 877-468-8243, 937-331-3900 or 800-433-8500.

If there is an immediate life-threatening emergency, call 911 immediately.

Never climb poles, transmission towers or trees near power lines.

Keep structures and equipment away from power lines

Installing a pool, antenna, or working with a ladder?  Keep at least 10 feet away from all power lines.

You should also keep kites away from power lines.  If your kite comes near a line, let go of the string immediately.
