CUSTOMER SERVICE

Setting Up & Turning Off Service at Your Home

Setting Up Service at Your New Home:
If you're moving, call us to establish service at your new home. When you call, our customer representatives will ask for:
  • your name
  • the address where you wish to establish service
  • your telephone number
  • your driver's license number, or other from of valid identification
Sometimes we have to ask for a security deposit to ensure that unpaid bills do not become a burden for all customers.

When setting up service, a DP&L employee may need to come to the residence to turn on the power. Before service at the meter can be turned on, all electricity inside the residence must be turned off. This is required for safety reasons.

Turning Off or Transferring Service:
In some cases, we can establish service the next day. But to be safe, please call us at least 2-3 working days in advance if you need to establish, disconnect, or transfer service.

Setting Up Service to a New Home or Building:
If you are planning to build a new business facility or home, contact us at least three months before you need your electric service. Our Construction Control Center is available to explain the process for making your service request.
