Eligibility

Who can receive a rebate?

All DP&L residential customers are eligible for heating and cooling rebates on eligible systems installed in residences served by DP&L.  Residential service may include single-family detached homes, single-family attached homes, mobile homes and many apartment complexes and multi-family homes where the units are individually metered.  Landlords or facility managers are eligible to receive rebates.

If you are unsure whether a you qualify for a rebate, call the CSG office at 937-859-3640.  Contractors should ask your customer to show you his or her electric bill to verify he or she is a DP&L residential customer at the residence seeking a rebate.

My contractor is not a program participant. Can I receive a rebate?

If you do not see your contractor on the list, please encourage him or her to become a DP&L particpating contractor in our program so you can receive your rebate.

Are customers eligible for more than one rebate?

Yes.  Customers with more than one AC or HP system are eligible for a rebate on each new energy-efficient system installed.  However, multiple systems for one homeowner need to be pre-inspected, so please call the CSG office at 937-859-3640.

Are rebates available for

  • Heat pumps?

Yes.

  • Ground source heat pump systems?

Yes.  It must be new, installed, and have an EER rating of 13 or higher.

  • Mini-split AC and HP systems?

Yes, it must be new, installed, and have a SEER rating of 14 or higher; however these systems are only eligible for replacement or new construction rebates.  There is no early retirement rebate for mini-splits.

  • Gas appliances?

No. Only electrically-supplied central heating and air conditioning units are eligible for rebates. But perhaps you can take advantage of our other energy efficiency programs.

  • Window, through-wall or portable air conditioners?

No.

Rebate Value and Process

What is the value of the rebates?

Rebates range from $200 to $600. List of eligible equipment and rebate values.

Can I get a higher rebate for a unit with a SEER rating higher than 16?

No. The maximum rebate value is $600 for units with a SEER rating of 16 or higher.

How will I receive my rebate?

When you purchase your new air conditioning or heat pump system from a participating contractor, you will instantly receive the savings in the form of a credit shown on your contractor’s invoice. You do not need to complete any paperwork! The contractor will submit it for you and get reimbursed by DP&L.

Does this rebate affect my taxes?

No.  This program doesn’t affect the homeowner’s income taxes. Since you, the homeowner, are simply paying less for the product you purchased, you will not receive any rebate check or income tax forms. For more information, please contact your tax professional.

Why is Dayton Power and Light offering the program?

This is one of a series of programs that Dayton Power and Light is launching to help customers save money and energy. This program helps customers save by reducing the energy needed to cool their home. In turn, it reduces Dayton Power and Light’s overall energy needs. This ultimately translates into reduced carbon emissions, reduced impact on the region’s natural resources and delays the need for more power plants.
