Hiring Your Own Contractor
Customers can hire a certified tree service, at their own expense, to prune a tree slated for trimming by DP&L, if:
- The contractor is certified to work near power lines, and,
- The customer or contractor notifies DP&L when and where the trimming will take place (call 888-582-3213), and,
- And the limb removal plan meets the standards for power line clearance and safety.
Call 888-582-3213 to get a list of local contractors that are certified and specially trained to work near power lines. Tree trimmers who are not certified to work near live power lines must stay at least 10 feet from any energized conductor at all times.
